Offered for sale is this rare and largely original 1997 Mitsubishi 3000GT VR-4 finished in Solano Black Pearl over Tan Leather interior. One of the five ‘halo’ Japanese Sports Cars of the 90’s – this 300hp Twin Turbo VR4 was way ahead of its time and epitomizes the styling of the era with its functional vents, scoops and large rear wing. Very tough to find in this unmolested, original condition. Clean Carfax, no accidents. Recent 60k service completed (timing belt, water pump). Service records available from early 1998 onward.
EXTERIOR: 9/10 – The Solano Black Pearl is in excellent shape and has a deep metallic shine in direct sunlight. Functional vents and aggressive bumper openings combined with the large rear wing and quad-tipped exhaust, lends this Mitsubishi a very sporty appearance. Paint is believed to be all original with the exception of the front bumper (and possibly the front passenger fender) and meters consistently at ~3.8-4.1mil. The factory 18x8.5in wheels have been professionally re-chromed to restore their factory shine and have been wrapped in new tires (<100miles). A handful of minor imperfections have been detailed in the gallery below.
INTERIOR: 9/10 – The interior of this 3000GT VR4 is finished in Tan Leather and presents extremely well with only limited wear on the shift knob. Seating surfaces are clean and supple with no cracking. The contrasting black dash is free of bubbles and cracks. The OEM radio and CD changer is still equipped. This VR4 features a slew of electronic features which were a luxury in its time; power seats with adjustable bolsters, power mirrors, power windows, steering wheel audio controls, and a garage home link. All interior controls are functional with bright lettering and show little wear. An Autometer Boost gauge is mounted on the A-pillar to allow easy monitoring; the only modification on this 3000GT. AC blows nice and cold!
DRIVETRAIN: 10/10 – The Twin Turbo 3.0L V6 in this VR4 produces a healthy 320-hp power and routes it through a proper 6-speed Getrag Transmission. No modifications to the drivetrain. Features all-wheel drive and all-wheel steering! Maintenance up-to-date; Drives like it should and sounds excellent!
