1956 Ford Crown Victoria Skyliner Fairlane V8 for sale in Rockville MD

Offered for sale is this 1956 Ford Crown Victoria Skyliner – a stunning piece of rolling automotive art. Finished in two-tone Sunset Coral and Raven Black (AY-Code) and a White Vinyl and Black Tree-Patterned Cloth Interior (AD-Code). Powered by a 292ci Thunderbird V8 (202hp) mated to an optional Fordomatic transmission. Rare factory Selectaire Air Conditioning option and power steering.


This Skyliner spent time under long-term family ownership in Florida and is sold with a clean FL title, recent service records, parts diagrams, and parts catalogs. 2,474 miles are shown on the 5-digit odometer. TMU.


Only 603 Crown Victoria Skyliner’s built for 1956 and carried an MSRP of ~$2,800. The Skyliner name refers to the vehicles’ unique transparent Plexiglas roof panel – which was used on three of Ford’s models in the mid- 1950;s. Due to complaints from customers of heat on hot days from the Skyliner roof – two optional Air Conditioning options were offered in 1955 (Comfortaire) and 1956 (Selectaire). This was an expensive option (~$450) and sources claim only a few hundred were ever installed. This example is equipped with Selectaire factory air conditioning.


This Skyliner presents in excellent condition overall and is wearing an older repaint in what are believed to be the original colors. The interior has been reupholstered in the original white vinyl with Black-tree patterned inserts. Ornate chrome trim separates the upper and lower portions of the body as well as the trademark “Crown-of-Chrome” and provides a clean separation between the Sunset Coral and Raven Black paintwork. A $30k major service and refurbishment was performed in 2019. Work included front disc brake conversion, rear wheel cylinders, restore gauge cluster, fuels lines and filter, intake manifold gasket, pcv valve, neutral safety switch, polished hood springs, voltage regulator for instrument cluster, temp sender, fuel sending unit, generator repaired, fuel tank, fuses, brake and transmission fluid, Magnaflow mufflers, and AC drain hose and ducting. The water pump was replaced in August 2023 in preparation for sale.
